Here are some answers to some important and popular questions which could help you understand the vetting process and what the results mean:

• Is the applicant's credit rating affected by our credit checks?
  • No. Our checks do not affect an applicant's credit rating because we do not have, nor seek to have, access to any applications for credit they may have made, or an individual's current borrowing details. The fact we have viewed publicly available information will be recorded by the credit reference agency for data protection purposes but will not have any effect on an individual's credit rating.
• What if an applicant fails their vetting?
  • A candidate would only fail a screening check, in a formal sense, if they were being screened against a particular standard (such as BS7858) and the details they supplied did not meet the requirements of the standard. Not all clients opt for BS7858 screening; some request an alternative set of checks, and again, a candidate would only fail the vetting process if the information they provided did not meet the standard expected by the client.
• What does that certificate prove?
  • The NVC BS7858 certificate we provide confirms to the candidate and the employer/client that the candidate has successfully achieved the BS7858 standard. This, in itself, only serves to prove that the details the candidate provided were checked and accurate as stated - it does not indicate a candidate's suitability for a given role.
