Cyber Incident Response

Cyber Incident Response

Should an attack occur our team will help manage your cyber incident response. SRM will use our expert team to manage the recovery with as little disruption to you as possible.

What is the challenge?

When it comes to data breaches, it is best to consider that it is a question of when, not if. Therefore, the key to incident response is anticipation. It may sound counter-intuitive, but the best way to deal with an unpleasant surprise is to have planned for it; to remove the element of surprise altogether.

Retained Forensics, Incident Management and Containment Support are therefore the crucial elements of an Incident Response plan. These services are also an important way to demonstrate strong data governance and adherence to regulations such as GDPR and the UK Data Protection Act (2018), which in turn will mitigate the extent of fines imposed in the event of a breach.

Who needs this service?

Even with the best information security strategy in place, given the persistence and resilience of cyber attackers there is a remote chance that a system might still be attacked. With a Retained Forensics team on board however, remedial action will be swift, minimising financial and reputational damage. Demonstrating a proactive approach to protecting your customer’s data also puts you in a stronger position when dealing with acquiring banks or any other regulatory authorities.

Why SRM?

SRM was one of only a handful of companies in the UK accredited by the Payment Card Council to carry out PFI investigations for many years, demonstrating our depth of skill and expertise in this field. Currently, we are fully authorised to carry out Acquirer-Led Investigations relating to breaches affecting Level 3 and Level 4 merchants.

Our team also provides as a bespoke Retained Forensics service, which uses this expertise to proactively manage systems before an attack occurs. In this way, organisations can use our Retained Forensic Investigations team to meet compliance requirements but also to build robust defences and test those strategies in a controlled manner, before the worst actually happens.

In the event of a breach, our team is able to manage all aspects of the reporting, mitigation and remediation processes to contain the damage caused by the breach and ensure a swift return to business-as-usual.

We do not recommend services or tools you do not need, preferring to use our extensive experience and understanding of our clients’ businesses to set up a targeted plan of action and remediation which will keep them as compliant and secure as it is possible to be. If the worst occurs, with a robust Incident Response plan in place remedial action will be swift, minimising financial and reputational damage. Demonstrating a proactive approach to protecting your customer’s data also puts you in a stronger position when dealing with acquiring banks or any other regulatory authorities.
